National Recognition/Awards:

Winner of 1995-14th Annual Doug Wheeler Award - Dep't of Tourism, Government of Newfoundland, "Outstanding Contribution to Tourism in Newfoundland"

Winner 1995 and 1990-Hospitality Newfoundland Award for contribution to Newfoundland tourism.

Selected to Canada's Nordic Skiing Demonstration team 1991, 1995, and 1999 to represent Canada at Interski-International Ski Instructor Conferences in St. Anton, Austria, Nozawa Onsen, Japan,  Beitostolen, Norway and most recently Crans Montana, Switzerland in January, 2003.

Past President of CANSI (Canadian Assoc. of Nordic Ski Instructors) 1996-98- A national organization of roughly 1000 instructors across the country. Also past National Technical Chairman  of CANSI (1999 to 2001) and  member of CANSI since 1982 and on the National Board since 1985.

In December 2002 received Level 3 CANSI Telemark Instructor certification and in April, 2003 I received CANSI Level 4 certification. This combination or MASTER INSTRUCTOR LEVEL has not been attained by any other CANSI member at this time (May, 2003).

In May 2005 invited to take part in the second annual Canadian Tourism Commission Media Conference in Saskatoon and Vancouver. I was the only writer from Newfoundland and one of just 2 writers from the Atlantic provinces invited to attend this conference from May 9-12, 2005.

In May 2006 I was invited to part in the third annual Canadian Tourism Commission Media Conference in the Muskoka area of Ontario. I was the only writer from Newfoundland and one of just 3 writers from the Atlantic provinces invited to attend this conference from May 9-12, 2006.

In July 2008 I was invited to part in the firth annual Canadian Tourism Commission Media Conference in the Quebec City. I was the only writer from Newfoundland and one of just 3 writers from the Atlantic provinces invited to attend this conference from  July 8-12, 2008.

Currently on the National Technical Board for CANSI (Canadian Assoc. of Nordic Ski Instructors) representing the Atlantic Provinces for telemark and cross country ski instructor courses.
